That's what's really important in business, especially when it comes to reality or industry people who they say get businesses and never really put their foot into it and just do it just to be saying, "I own this, or I'm a partner in that." No, we're 100% at it fully. We do businesses that are of us, that we are going to give our 100% to. One thing that people can't take away from myself or my husband is that the things that we do, we do wholeheartedly. You can't please everybody in a business but know your business. I've evolved so much as an entrepreneur just for the fact that I understand that I'm a work in progress. To stay focused, have a plan every season, sticking to that mindset and setting goals, and accomplishing it.įor(bes) The Culture: When you look back to when you first started on the show, how have you grown as an entrepreneur?įrost: I have to appreciate falling on my face in order to get back up. We still follow the same format that we started at the very beginning of Love & Hip Hop, and it's been 10 years now. It’s important for us to be able to provide opportunities for others because we've been blessed with the opportunity, and that's what we do. It's always been important for us to make sure we stay strong business-minded and not only talk about it but be about it. Regardless, we do music, but I've always loved fashion, I've always been a little weird, and I'm a Gemini so I'm 20,000 different people. I knew that we're not the standstill type. When you're blessed with a platform as big as Love & Hip Hop where millions of people come in, if you are about your business, grab onto it and make the best out of it. We're like, "We are not going to get on this platform and not have sound businesses that we want to make sure are as successful as they can possibly be and have a plan.” I tell people that all the time who come on the show that it's important to have a plan. I've just been really blessed to be able to do that. We've been grinding with Rasheeda.” There are other people who met me through television, so this was the perfect platform that allowed me to connect the dots and bridge that together. I felt really good that I had the people who had been with me, who were like, "That's not Rasheeda from TV. Watching how it changed people's lives, I was so clueless about that but ultimately, the experience has been really amazing.įor(bes) The Culture: A lot of people were already following you because of your music career, but how did you feel when the impact and the followership of reality television hit you?įrost: With great success and great things to come, there's also that other side of things. If I had known how much of a difference it would make in my life. You don't realize the amount that comes with it. With us putting our lives out there and telling our stories, you’re like, "Yeah, this is what's going on and this is the situation," not realizing that this is really going to impact, people are going to weigh in and it's going to be a lot. First of all, we didn't know that people are going to tune in the way that they did. I was so green, chile, I didn't know what the hell was going on and you don't realize that.
